My boyfriend's father is a custom furniture manufacturer in New York. Sometimes he sends us furniture that a Designer had him make and then they don't want it for whatever reason. Most of the time they are pretty eccentric pieces that we wouldn't normally purchase....like this bench with horse hooves covered in white hair hide. We had a good chuckle when we first received this piece but I must admit he is growing on me! See, I even refer to the bench as "he". The detail really does make the legs look real. And the bottom of the hoof is painted silver which is fun. So, I have been on the fence for awhile trying to decide whether I still think it is hilarious or if I am really starting to like this guy(bench)....then I open the recent issue of Veranda and see a picture of this bench... It is almost the same bench! Myra Hoefer designed this bench and sells it on her website. Her tear sheet says they are goat legs and the bench is $1,800! Myra Hoefer Design has a showroom in Healdsburg, CA. One of my favorite places to visit. You can read a post on Healdsburg here. Here are some pieces from Oly and Mecox if you are into furniture with animal legs... So furniture with animal legs...yea or neigh? |

I love your horse stool! I have been looking for one that isn't heart attack inducing expensive! Would you mind getting in touch with me and letting me know what your father in law would charge for a piece like that? I had one once upon a time, but sadly it was stolen in a sudden and traumatic move. :( I'd love to be able to replace it! You can email me at gnewiththesin@sbcglobal.net or shop.UNEARTHED@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
I am a designer and have also been looking for this stool. The only ones I can find are ungodly expensive. I would like to purchase 8 benches in total, however the price point has to be such, that I can resale once upholstered with hide.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Kindly email me at knoblady@ aol
I have also been looking for this bench! Do you have any idea how much your father in law would charge for one? Email me at betsytward@gmail.com if you happen to know, or if he is still making them. I know I am late to this post ;) thanks!!
