Travel Tuesday - Shelter CO

My boyfriend and I attempted to go camping a couple of years ago when our friends invited us to go camping in Malibu.  We were a little bit hesitant but the thought of camping on the beach in Malibu sounded like an experience we couldn't miss!  Well, as soon as we pulled up to the campground, all my preconceived fantasies about this camping trip soon dissipated.  The campground was not on the beach, it was across the street with no ocean view in a parking lot.  The campsite was a little dirt patch and the neighboring campers were a little too close for comfort.

Armed with our duraflame log, we went to meet our friends.  They let us borrow a tent and after a few fights and laughing harder than I have ever laughed in my life, our tent was pitched.  We did have a great time eating hot dogs and making s'mores and talking with our friends around the fire but we have not been camping since.

So, when I came across Shelter Co, I thought this could be right up my alley:)

If you are traveling to London for the Summer Olympics I am super jealous, but not so much that I won't share some of my favorite spots with you.  I collected some of my posts from my recent trip...click on the links under the photos if you want to read more about my favorite spots.  There is really so much to do and see.  I truly love London!

The Blue Bar at the Berkeley is a must for cocktails.  See my post here.

More on Laduree macaroons here.  They also have a Laduree at Harrods, so if you don't make it to Covent Garden then you should go to the one at Harrods and stop by the Food Hall...my favorite part, better than the clothes...in my opinion.

Going For Gold!

It is not too late to have a cocktail and dessert party for the 2012 Summer Olympic Opening Ceremony!  Here are some ideas that you can pull together really fast.

How about an Olympic Gold Cocktail?  Put edible gold flakes or gold stars around the rim of your martini glass or any cocktail glass.  Go here for the recipe for the yummy drink above.

Or how about floating some edible gold in your champagne?

Now for the sweets!  Olympic ring cookies are so cute and easy to make, you can go here for the above recipe, or use my sugar cookie recipe here and then use any store bought white icing and put colored sprinkles on top.

If you don't have time to bake, you could pick up some cupcakes from your local store and make your own Olympic rings with decorating icing.

Olympic torch popcorn cones are so cute!  You could use buttered popcorn for a break from the sweets or caramel corn if you have a real sweet tooth.

Or put some leftover gold flakes over the top of white popcorn.

Bowls of M&M's are a festive and decorative treat to put around the house...take out the orange ones if you want the correct Olympic ring colors.

Now sit back with your Olympic gold cocktail and your Olympic torch popcorn and let the games begin!

Mecox Gardens in Southampton

While we were in New York we were able to visit the Mecox Gardens flagship store in Southampton.

It is a huge space packed with beautiful furnishings!  Here are some shots around the store.

I love this whole vignette!  I wish I had somewhere to put that table!

Everyone around me is preggers, so I have had nurseries on my mind. This elephant lamp from West Elm inspired me to create a blue and white elephant themed nursery.  I will be making a neutral nursery board for a friend soon, so be on the look out in the next couple of weeks if you need nursery ideas!

And Happy Friday!  I am soooo excited that it is Friday!  It has been a long and crazy week, but I like how it makes Friday that much more enjoyable!  That and fact that it is "jeans day" at work doesn't hurt...and lets not forget about all the wine to be had at dinner.  Have a great weekend!

Still Loving Spindle Chairs?

LuLu DK on One Kings Lane

I love Lulu DK rugs.  I have posted about them before here.  I was so giddy to see them on One Kings Lane in some of my favorite styles and at great prices.  Unfortunately the sizes wont work for me so I won't be ordering any but I wanted to share with you!
